The prom is a "formal" affair, as such, a gentleman will wear a tuxedo OR a suit and tie. Anything else would not be considered "formal wear".

It depends on what your school's rules and regulations about prom are...Some schools will not allow students to wear regular clothing to the prom. You need to ask the person over the prom advisor board if what your planning to wear is admissable for your school's prom.

well i'm from the caribbean and when i had my prom me an my BF went together and he hate tux an he dont even own one and he wore a nice jean pants a dress shirt and a pair of Timbs and he looked fine but it all depends on u

You should wear a tux since it is a formal occasion. If your school is not having a formal prom, feel free to just dress"nice."

My personal opinion is to wear whatever you feel comfortable with. If you want to wear a tux and it's within your budget to rent one, go for it. If you do not want to wear one, don't. You might want to get the ok from your date on what you wear just to be on the safe side.

I would say no, wear something that expresses who you are. If a nice shirts and pants is more your style, go for it!

you should but it depends on what you and your date decide but if you dont wear a tux make sure they are really nice clothes

i dont know i know however of one guy wearing a "stripper" tux, which was very interesting.
