When you look at an obese person, do you immediately pass judgment? For example, you would think they're lazy and glutton.

Please note: By obese, I do not mean overweight. I mean obese, as in unnaturally large and unhealthily overweight.

not by size alone.

if they dress like a slob & act like a slob, then it reinforces their size by bearing fruits of their lifestyle

but if they are simple large, but take very good care of themselves, and dress well, take good care of their hair & speak good of others, then my opinion of them is well.

but thats just my opinion, and i usually keep it to myself... when i am in public.

Enjoy your day!

I am actually curious about the answers people will give to this question.
My b/f and I are both obese (I believe that is the catagory we fall into although it may only be overweight) and we often get stares and sneers.
We are both fairly healthy, and we go out and get around and chase after my 3 yr old son. We are great people, but others seem to stop at the facade and don't give us a chance.
I understand that some people may think we are lazy etc..and perhaps we could do more excersise, but we are people too and do not deserve other peoples judgements anymore then someone who is handicapped, of a different race or religion etc.

So interested in others replies.

No, definitely not. But on certain occasions if I see a obese person who is rather young then the most I ever think is that it's always healthy & in their best interest to incorporate a heathy life style because good health is a precious thing & it always goes a long way...

Yes, unfortunately I do. But that's usually because I'm seeing them in Queen Street eating a McDonalds, or in the cinema eating hotdogs, or in the takeaways of an evening.

I work with a very big bloke who comes in every morning, buys a sausage sandwich and sometimes a bacon buttie, has a packet of crisps an hour later, eats lunch in the canteen with chips everyday, more crisps or a cake in the afternoon.

People didn't used to be this fat. 25 years ago we didn't have a single fat kid in our primary school of 100, let alone saw anyone obese in our town.

You can't tell me it's a sudden genetic fault that everyone's developed! The vast majority of overweight people, obese or otherwise, look like that because they eat too much of the wrong foods and don't take enough exercise. Very rarely are they genuinely ill. I'm fed up with people making excuses for most of them.

no i don't however i worry about their health....as there are many health issues with obesity.I tend not to judge as we all have problems in one form or another, nobody is 100% perfect so why judge?. I think people put far too much emphasis on how much weight one is carrying. by the way i am not obese in any way shape or form, i am a healthy 12-14 uk size.

When I was younger I might have, but I've learned that isn't a good thing to do. You never know what a person's life has been like to get that way, bad genes, excessive stress, a disease, a condition I've never heard of, 10 kids, 100 hamburgers a day, you just never know.

I don't tend to notice someone's physical appearance much unless they do all the can to exaggerate it.
ie..a very obese girl that dresses extremely goth in clothes 8 times too small, you cannot help but at least notice that.

But no, I still do not judge someone because of obesity. Everyone has their personal struggles and problems..not up to me to play God.

Everyone is different, and people can not always help the way the are, some people do put on weight through medical reasons.
If is it through too much eating, there must be a reason why the person overeats, you find that people have more sympathy for druck addicts than people who are food addicts.
