Try to sleep on your side because it is better for circulation, but don't worry if you end up on your back. pillows behind the back help you stay on your side, but I managed to end up on my back with a row of pillows between my husband and I every night....it's impossible to control when you're asleep.
cactus cooler does have a small amount of caffeine in it.

You cant sleep on your back because it puts pressure on the vena cava ( I think its this artery) and cuts off circulation to the baby and its placenta. The side lets you have more circulation, but its the left side.

there is a artery or vein that runs right behind the baby and it is a major one, sleeping with a pillow or something under one side moves the baby off of it, otherwise the baby could partally block the circulation.
so i have no idea what the other thing is
