My partner is considering circumsision at age 35yrs old. He is concerned that he will lose the sexual pleasure if they cut the wrong nerves. I dont mean to sound personal but... do you still enjoy sex (more/less) after the circumsision?

I've already answered similar questions, but feel obliged to answer yours as well because there is a very strong anti-circumcision lobby at 'Men's Health' who continue to run down circumcision without being in a position to do so.
I was circumcised at 22 years of age, and I personally feel it was probably the best decision of my life. I've never heard about doctors or surgeons 'cutting the wrong nerves' when performing an adult circumcision (although it is well known tht many infant circumcisions do go horribly wrong). I think people who say that circumcision reduces sensitivity are talking crap. How would they know, unless they've been circumcised as adults themselves and therefore, like me, can objectively make a 'before and after' comparison.
If your boyfriend is considering getting cut, he must have his reasons, probably phimosis but it could be for purely aesthetic considerations. Tell him what I think. By all means, check out various sites both in favour of and against circumcision. But I'm sure that virtually everyone who's been cut as a sexually active young man or mature adult will tell you that they would never look back!!

That's a terrible idea, for both of you!

ADVANTAGES OF BEING INTACT:
--Circumcision cuts WAY down on sexual enjoyment for the man due to loss of nerve-rich foreskin. A new study proves conclusively, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that circumcision decreases sensitivity for the man. http://www.blackwell-synergy.com/doi/abs/10.1111/j.1464-410X.2006.06685.x
--Getting cut causes the glans (head) to develop a keratinized layer to protect from rubbing on clothing, further cutting sensation. Many cut men are unable to ejaculate during intercourse and have to finish by hand. Intact men can go all the way.
--nine out of ten women who have had both prefer intact penises: http://www.healthcentral.com/drdean/408/60750.html That's really pretty definitive. Please read this article--it doesn't just report the survey results; it explains WHY women enjoy sex more with an intact man.
--foreskin makes masturbation more fun - and better for your partner to play with.
--Circumcision hurts when it's done (once the anesthesia wears off), and he'll be out of action for a month or two, more if there are complications--a cut penis looks kind of sad with that scar where the foreskin belongs. Uncut is much hotter looking.
--Circumcision has a slight chance of complications. Each year a few baby boys have to have their entire penises amputated and undergo surgery to make them into fake girls. And a few die. Grown men get infections, although they don't lose their penises.

ADVANTAGES OF BEING CUT: Circumcision has no advantages that are not fictional or only relevant in a few areas
--You can be just as clean if you are uncircumcised. Wash. It's THAT simple. Even if you're cut, you still need to wash.
-- If you're sleeping around, you need to use condoms regardless or you will get diseases.
--Some studies have shown a lower rate of cancer of the penis in cut guys, but this cancer is so rare that it's hard to get a good statistical sample. More boys/men die each year from botched circumcisions than from cancer of the penis.
--Recent reports from Africa say that circumcision reduces the risk of AIDS from unprotected hetrosexual activity. This has little relevance to areas of the world where condoms are cheap, readily available, and culturally acceptable. The US has the highest circumcision rate in the developed world and also the highest AIDS rate in that group. http://www.circinfo.org/hiv.html

There are no right nerves are wrong nerves only the loss of the foreskin itself (which has its own sensitivity) and its protection of the glans against the texture of his pants or underwear. Some men find constant exposure to that texture to be numbing, leaving their penis less sensitive, and there is an actual physical change that it causes.

As for the man who can't have sex for as long as he could before, there's a theory that cutting the nerves that lead from the penis to the foreskin leaves the penis on more of a "hair trigger" giving a man less control over when he finishes, which for some men could mean not lasting as long.

He should absolutely NOT get circumcised. Circumcision was adopted in the USA in the 1880's to prevent masturbation, which it does not. Even way back then they knew that removal of the foreskin decreases male sexual pleasure, that was the idea.

Men circumcised as adults often report increased pleasure, which may be true at first. This is because the sensitive tissue that remains (very little) is overly stimulated because it is exposed and tight. Many men circumcised as adults regret the decision after severly years. Men don't like to talk about this, and admit they made a mistake with their penises. Men in our culture are tough to be "tough" and not complain about such things.

Sex is still pleasurable with circumcised men. However you may find you prefer the gentle smooth action of intact thrusting over the aggressive friction rubbing and pounding of circumcised sex.

Intact is natural, normal, functional and healthy.

Circumcision for hygiene is a myth. Circumcision for health is a myth. Circumcision is almost all ways cosmetic only. Would you remove your labia or clitoral hood just for cosmetics (I am presuming you are female, if not I apologize for the assumption)?

Please fully educate yourself and your BF about the prepuce and circumcision before you make such a permanant change!

Seek truth, knowledge is power.

I have been circumsised all my life so I cannot compare sex between the two, however I can tell you that I have always enjoyed sex and never lost the desire to do it, even now in my 40's.

i got cut as an adult. you don't "lose" sexual pleasure, just that nasty extra skin that was always causing me problems. I didn't become any less sensitive; in fact, i think i'm more sensitive now. love the feel of the bare head rubbing inside my pants. and the sex is way better. before, i could feel the foreskin gliding back and forth over my head. now, it's pure friction--head against the inside of my partner. what a great feeling. one thing he should talk to the urologist about--most urologists love to put the circ scar close to the head and not leave much of the inner mucosa. i'd be much happier if he had left me some more of that--i.e. it would look more like i was done at birth. it's kinda a cosmetic decision, but that inner mucosa does have lots of nerves, too. check out http://www.circlist.com they have lots of info on circ--styles, how it's done, etc.

Sorry, but why have he to get circumcision then?!
I think a man accustomed to the foreskin benefits (for 35 years) then could feel discomfort without it. Besides the loss of sensibility is common thro the cut of the frenum and foreskin. And that aside from the loss of the glans sensibility in the long term then.

Doctors know what they are doing, i mean they wont cut the wrong skin or nerve. And yes, he will enjoy sex even more because he is more confident in himself.

I had a friend that was circumcised later in life and his only regret is sex is a whole lot quicker now. He says it feels better but he use to be able to last a whole lot longer.

If circumcision is done by an experienced surgeon there should be nothing to fear. In fact, sexual pleasure should increase considerably after circumcision. Go ahead and don't have any fears about it.
