Sinc KALI is Black in appearance it would no be construded as of AFRICAN Origin. She is very much from Indian Origin only. Read the details. -

They are grammatically unrelated, the first being nominal/ablative the latter adjectival. This "terrible" Kali is another similarly named deity who acts as the personification of Kali yuga. Frequent confusion comes in interpreting the Kali yuga," or "terrible age," one of the four great ages (yugas) of Hindu cosmology, as conflated with the goddess Kali. This is mostly due to her appearance, which is often described as terrible and fearsome. In fact, the goddess Kali should not be confused with kali yuga, as her name has a separate and unrelated meaning.-

If by the darker colour of skin you mean to say the image of the female goddess has to be linked with Africa.....it is a very loose association. Anthropologically the human race is supposed to have evolved out of Africa in 7 basic female types, spread out over the world. Kaali, or Shakthi in symbolic language is equated with raw energy, formless and void as opposed to Shiva her consort who is equated with matter, or condensed form of energy. (Then what is light?)

The culture that we present see in Hindu country india is a result of fusion between Aryans from Baltic russian side and the Dravidians (natives in india) therefore the presence of different types of gods in Hindu Mythology is obvious. The Aryans were Fair in skin color and considered superior they still do and so come their God of Rain fire ... (indra, agni)etc. and the Dravidians worshipped gods that were interpreted to be darker resembling their skin color.
