I'm hoping for a SWEEP! If game one was a prelude to the series, it will be. What can the Wings do? Seems like they are counting on 2 or 3 players....including Bertuzzi, who couldn't do squat in last night's game. Hasek can't pull it off by himself.
As for the Sharks, everyone is doing amazing....makes me happy!

Not a good game for the wings. I was there sitting in row three right in the corner. It was my first time being so close and GOD was it awesome!!
Anyways, the Sharks dominated in defense! The Wings in my opinion dominated the neutral zone and had more time in the offensive zone. Again, this is my opinion of the game and i may be wrong, but atleast it had to be even(time in offensive zones for both teams).
The wings offense was torn apart by the Sharks defense. The wings like to play the puck in the corners and wear out the wingers and the defensmen, then push the puck to the goal for rebounds either from the wingers or their defensemen. The Sharks play a similar type of game, and they have big strong defensemen with great endurance, so this type of hockey didnt work last night. Also, the sharks centers and defensemen blocked just about all of detroit's shots last night.
There was just no opportunities of getting shots through from the point.
The first goal that the Sharks scored was a great goal on their POWER PLAY. Its reasonable at times to get score on on the power play. The second goal however should not have gone in. Just a mistake on Hasek's part.
Now, this game could have changed a bit for detroit had San Jose gotten more penalties. I dont remember exactly, but i think the Sharks got no more than 2 to 3 penalties. Detroit did not capitalize on the few they got. Detroit's offense was completely torn apart by the Sharks the whole game.
San jose did have a few more days rest than detroit. detroit looked off their game. I expect game two to be alot better for detroit. However, game 3 and 4 in San Jose is going to be tough.
The wings are NOT done yet! They can come back and even the series up, but it is going to be real tough now, especially since they lost at home! As much of a wings fan that i am, i see the Sharks winning the series in 4 or 5 if the wings cannot pull their game up!

They are in a bind so to speak and possibly have their backs to the wall, but no way are they doomed....and this is coming from a Sharks fan.
They have enough talent and experience in the playoffs to know how to handle being down 1 nothing. I'm expecting a different wings team to show up for game 2. I'm even thinking they will tie the series with game 2. But then the Sharks will take the next 2 making the series 3-1. Game 5 will be back in detroit and should be a game for the ages.
But to answer your question, no...i don't think they are doomed. Not yet at least....

Not even close, it was just one game. Detroit had plenty of chances and both Sharks goals came in a one minute window. Detroit had quite a few second chance opportunities that were just inches away from being knocked in. If a couple bounces landed an inch closer to the Wings stick, it would have been a completely differant game. Its not like the game was lop-sided or anything. Detroit did outshoot them 34-19. San Jose played a good defensive game, but saying a great team like Detroit is out after one game where neither team really dominated is insane. Even if you think that San Jose is a better, it is way to early to call the series.

So far the only two things that have happened is that the Sharks now have a one game lead, and they now have home ice advantage. There is a lot of hockey left in all four series'. As Chris Berman use to say - "That's why they play the games." If you think it's over already you won't be enjoying the games as much.

If they keep playing the way they did last night, well atleast during that first period, then id say yeah.... . It seemed like they werent even trying at first.. They picked up their game in the 2nd and the 3rd, but it was to late by then.... Hopefully they will come out strong in game 2 and even the series before going to the tank.... Its still only game 1, so its to hard to judge right now...

As much as I hope the are finished, it was only game 1 and Detriot is not going to take that loss litely. It's going to be a great game 2.
Detroit was number 1 in the western conference for a reason. Don't discard them yet.
Go Sharks!!!

Wings have a tough haul. I don't think they can win at the Tank. Sharks put the bite on them in game one and played a near flawless playoff road game to take it 2 - 0.
Babcock was plainly out-coached and Carlyle will make mincemeat of him back in SJ.
