Turtles in captivity do weird things with eggs. Often the first few nestings are infertile, and the mother will lay in the water or another odd place (water-laid eggs are always infertile), and often the mother will eat them. These eggs are also infertile and she needs the calcium back.

On the other hand, this can be a stress-reaction to cares that are not quite right- too small a tank, wrong temps, weak diet, etc.

Try a good care site like http://www.austinsturtlepage.com for good advice.

My female turtle did the same thing... My co-worker found a turtle in the gutter outside her house and I took it in. The first few weeks I had her, I would wake up in the morning and find what looked like broken eggs in her tanks. After I had her a few months, she stopped laying eggs.

Well turtles are meat eaters or it could be she knows something is not right & it's natures way for animals... reptiles, etc to kill or destroy their own when somethings wrong & they know when it is... it's very hard to keep & save reptile eggs tho..they have very specific needs unlike chicken eggs, etc. Peace & TC :)

the only over thing you could really do, is
set up a over tank and place eggs in it,
make sure you keep it heated
