Or is it one of those pesky stations that wont accept oyster cards?

If you mean Pay as You Go Oyster, then No it is not accepted. If you have a weekly Travel Card on your Oyster which covers Zone 2, then Yes.

Dalston Kingsland Station? The Oyster Card Scheme is only valid in the London Area for travel on Tube and Bus mainly. Some Overground rail services do not accept Oyster at all.
However in this case as it is served by Silverlink I would hazard a guess as yes it would, best to check with Oyster website, TFL website or call Silverlink helpline.
