First, as in all philosophy, we need to define "Good" and "Bad" experiences. It's all relative to the person experiencing the event. Good and Bad is the unique perspective of the individual. Some are into pain to the point of pleasure while others experience pleasure to the point of pain.
In those terms, Life and the "painful" lessons it teaches, the painful lessons seem more enduring. But what we see as a "bad" experience changes once we fully grow to understand what the experience meant and how it changed us.
Example: I think of life and it's experiences like this - When we start life we are seedling plants. We grow and learn. But a day comes when that "Pot" or life that we are living in becomes more of a growth inhibitor. We become root bound and eventually wither and die. However, life and experiences "Transplant" us to a larger pot with room to grow and learn. To the plant, It is a very painful and scary. It takes awhile, but if the plant is strong enough, it's will to live and desire to survive will flourish because of it. Life continues to move us into larger and larger pots. Our growth and lives depend on these trans-plantations.
Good is often the very thing that destoys us in the end. As in, Too much of a good thing. Aka: Janis Joplin, Elvis Presley and James Belushi.

It is not the experience itself that makes a person better or worse -- it is how the person handles the situation that is important.
Now, having said that, you must realize that good/bad and better/worse are relative terms. What one person sees as a bad experience may be good in the eyes of another. It depends on a variety of factors.
Trivial example:
One person loses a job and deems it a catastrophe but does nothing about it.
Another, in the same situation, sees it as an opportunity to learn new skills in order to secure a better job.

In a way it does because negative experiences help you to be a tougher person, so that in future when your faced with those similar situations it wont effect you the same way it did the first time, and you'll know how to handle it. However, if your a person that's constantly in bad situations it would be healthy to take time out and reflect on the inner self. try to see what is it that your doing that might be causing you to be placed in those positions, it easy to point the finger and blame everyone else. My advice is to try looking at yourself and the people you associate with, and proceed to make the necessary changes.

The answer to this question is no. A lot of bad experiences are definently going to change you......but there is no way they alone will make you a better person.

It is like the saying goes"-you have to drop bottom"before you realize that you need to become a better person. You can go either way on this situation. Once you feel guilty of doing the things you have done then you can start making progress, and if you do'nt you could keep going to a dark side which can lead to be very ugly. Its Whats Behind the Door.
There's a door that's closed inside my mind
If I open it up what will I find
to it full of built up memeories
waiting to come out and torture me
I'm afraid of what I will have to face
if I go beyond that locked up space
I can feel the sadness the hurt and pain
entangled in a web with the guilt and shame
What's behind the door?
When I find the strenght to open it wide
will I find the answers to my feelings inside?
I'm getting closer and closer with time
to open it up and finally find...
What's behind the door.

in some aspect, yes, we r becoming a better human being...
experiences make our way of thinking become more matured..as well as our attitude...bad experience will open our eyes to the real world..we will realise how harsh this world can be...we will become more aware of things around us...we learn not to repeat the same mistake again...
in certain circumstances, bad experience can give very bad influence in our daily life if we cant handle it properly...
it's the way we manage the bad experience to be a lesson for ourselves that makes the experience worth...

I would say yes...you have to look back & think about/understand the lesson you learned from the experience though. If you just dwell on it, then no..the bad experiences will eat you alive. For example, if you get cheated on by a partner, then forgive and let go..then take a lesson from it; set higher standards for your next relationship, etc.

the world may never know the answer to this question...a bad experience can result in a positive change or a change to the contrary, it would depend on one's outlook in the first place and what would account for what one feels is a bad experience in the first place.
