yes a woman can lose weight while being preg. meanning maintainning her weight throughout her pregnancy. not actually starting out at 150 in month one and being 130 at month 9. that is a no no. im saying possibly starting out at 150 for example and being 160 in month 9. If u eat right and excersice correctly not trying to lose. as long as ur baby is getting enough food and is being taken care of inside u then there is nothing to fear. I actually had this happen. I got preg at 150 and in my 9th month weighed in at 160.5. when i went to my 6th week check up after having a c-sec. I weighed 137. so infact while i was preg, i ate right and took care of myself and baby and ended up loseing body fat in other areas of my body during pregnancy.

You shouldn't. The baby needs the constant nutrition and also needs you to gain some weight. While it may happen, you need to not worry about it while pregnant. Usually towards the end of your pregnancy you will lose a little or will stop gaining. Also.. at the start of pregnancy some women lose weight due to morning sickness but having weight loss as a goal during pregnancy is not good.

It depends on what your starting weight is prior to pregnancy. If you're already at a healthy weight, no, it's not safe.
If you're obese, there is less risk involved (if you're obese and start eating healthy, chances are you will lose weight). I lost 45 pounds when pregnant with my child, but I was 260# before getting pregnant.
I was closely monitored because of this, and had a great OB who was ok with it so long as my child was growing ok and showed no signs of distress (which she didn't).
Working out depends on how healthy your pregnancy is. If you are high risk, count it out. Walking and swimming should be your friends, not weight lifting and 45 minutes in a step class.

You should most definitely do your best to eat healthy for you and your baby, but it's not safe to try to diet and lose weight while you're pregnant. Have you talked to your doctor about your weight? He/she may recommend gaining less weight than the average-weight woman if you are on the heavier side. Don't get me wrong, exercise is important in pregnancy, but you should always discuss it with your doctor first.

Yes....but it`s a real worry. My friend is pregnant with her 2nd (actually 3rd...she has twins already) and has lost 5 kilos because of her terrible morning sickness. If things don`t get better soon, she will be admitted to hospital and put on a drip because of dehydration.
Even though she was overweight to start with - losing weight is a really bad sign!
However, I do know people who didn`t put on weight and that was ok. They ate very healthily during pregnancy....so lost and gained at the same time. But they didn`t plan to lose weight.....they ate healthily and sensibly.

You should not be trying to lose weight, but for some women it happens. Some find that their weight seems to shift within their body and move to the belly. Eating healthy and working out won't hurt the baby if you are giving it enough nutrition and not working out too strenously. Your OB should look at your diet and exercise plan just to make sure you aren't over dong it.

yes, she may also loose weight the first months due to morning sickness, which is in fact, all the time sickness for some. However, during the last months, you can eat only celery sticks and you would still gain weight like crazy cause the child need more nutition and fat is also needed to create healthy milk.

When my friends mom was pregnant with her, she went on a certain diet. She started yoga and gave up all foods that came out of a box (i.e. like crackers, chips, pre packaged food. ingrediants are ok). She also gave up all foods with ingrediants in them that she could not pronounce. She looked healthy, and felt healthy. She is still on the same diet and looks fabulous. She is healthy too. So, basically going all natural is a good idea. You are still getting all the vitamins and food you need, but in a healthier way. Good luck, and happy parenting.

It happens but it is not suggested. Sometimes women lose weight during their first trimester due to morning sickness and some overweight women lose weight during pregnancy. It's not a time to be dieting.
