We are a family of 4 going to Disney world in June. We will be staying at the Shades of Green and our breakfast and dinner are included in our package. We plan on going to the room for lunch most days and we have already purchased some of the fun stuff like stuffed animals and pins for the kids. It would be great if someone could give me an estimate. thank you...

How much to spend really just depends on each family, how long you will be going, etc. I don't know too much about Shades of Green, if passes are included, etc. I didn't realize that two meals were included. If tickets are not included, this will be your biggest expense, the easiest way to figure this out is just figure the cost before you leave, you can then bring enough cash to pay for them or bring a credit card. I would say the average price for most people's tickets is aroun $1000, but again, it depends on how long you will be going, if hopping and water parks are included, etc. If you don't already have your passes, be sure to check the prices of extra days. They changed this not too long ago, so the price per day averages down the longer you stay, once you reach about 4 days, extra days only cost around $2 or so per person. Also consider the hopping and waterpark option. Hopping is definitely something to think about, if you are on a budget, do you plan to go to several parks a day, if so, it is worth it... But, if you prefer to spend more time in one park each day, don't get it and save the extra money. The waterpark option is a great savings if you plan to go to Disneyquest and/or a waterpark 2 times, it already saves money. I will include a link with prices for tickets so you can get an idea of how much they run.

Okay, so to sum that all up, tickets will be the biggest expense, if you don't already have them purchased.

The second most expensive thing is dining, in some cases the most expensive part of the trip. Since you have two meals included, that can save you a lot of money. However, since you plan to eat lunch in your room, make sure you consider costs for getting to a grocery as well as the groceries. If you don't have a car, a taxi or transfer to a grocery will probably run around $100 and then tip, so it can be a little pricey. You can take a private transfer to Shades of Green from the airport (if you are flying) for the same price and many companies include a 30 minute grocery stop. Also, expect prices at the grocery to be a little higher than what you normally pay. You are night near themeparks and things, so prices are a little higher since it is a tourist area. I would say around $100 or so should be plenty for you for just lunches, maybe a few snacks as well.

If you aren't flying and you are driving, you need to consider gas costs. This will depend on how long you will be gone, how much you will be driving, the kind of vehicle, etc. Also, if you aren't flying but rather renting a car, you have to consider costs of renting as well as gas. There is no telling what gas will be when you are there, but it is around $2.90 now, so I would estimate it around $3.00 a gallon to be on the safe side, that way if it is a little too high you have money left.

Aside from that the other things would be stuff like souvenirs. If you already have most of them bought, it won't cost too much, but you still may bring some money in case your children find a few little things they want to remember the trip with. Also, you may find a few things, or find some pictures you want, etc. It is always good to have a little because you can almost always find something you want, as can the little ones.

Finally, consider costs of any other entertainment you may decide to do. Putt-putt, other area attractions, arcades, etc. may all end up in your daily activities, especially if you have your own transportation, so it is good to have a little extra for this as well.

Hopefully this will help you to figure out a basic budget for your trip and how much to bring a long. There are so many variables that it is almost impossible to tell you how much to bring. I think that $1000 is a good amount to bring, but if you don't have tickets it probably won't be enough. If you do have tickets, most meals, etc. it will probably be more than enough, not sure how comfortable you are traveling with that much money.... Again, it is also different for each person, when I go, I usually get a plan that includes all my meals, tours, etc. I usually go and spend very little money, if I took my sister, $1000 was never enough, she loved to shop.

Hope this helps!

I was there over Easter with my wife and two kids. If you have not purchased your tickets yet, plan on about $1200 dollars or so, depending on the ages of your kids (my 11 yr old daughter is an adult admission, by my 7 yr old son a child.) Our admission was for 9 days with the park hopper option (an absolute must add on!) and the water parks and more option. After that since most of your meals are already accounted for I would guess around $1500 or so. I know you purchased souvenirs already, but there is always something that the kids (and adults) see that they want from the trip that they want to take home to remember the visit that you can't get anywhere else. T-Shirt that actually SAY Walt Disney World are big in our house. We tried buying souvenirs and bringing them one trip and it was a disaster. The kids want to pick out their own souvineirs to remember the trip, including adding to their pin collections. I think that $1500 should send you home with money depending on what you do and where you go.

The average spending is $400 per person per day. This figure includes a moderate hotel stay and meals. Based on what you say, sounds like $200 to $250 of that figure is already covered.

Food at the parks run about $9 per cheeseburger and fries platter and up for sit down. Drinks about $3 per soda and $5 per popcorn.

What makes it rough, especially for kids, is that you very literally, smell food everywhere. Acutally on Main St in the Magic Kindgom the pipe in a baked vanilla smell, no lie.

Shades of Green is AT LEAST 30 min from inside the Magic Kingdom (longer for the other parks). This is an eternity for a hungry cranky little person.

You can bring bottle water and energy bars. They usually won't forbid outside chips and snacks but it is not technically allowed. Then of course you do have to carry it around all day.

Bottom line I believe you will easily use most of the $150 per day mentioned at the top. Would increase this figure per adult, per day. Don't forget you may be taking a cab and/or other activites like a movie, outlet shopping, dinner shows or side attractions.

Plan on $40 per person per day for incidentals and snacks. I'm assuming you already have tickets? Here is a money saving tip you don't hear often: buy only kids meals at counter service places at disney. They are sized quite generously, can be quite appealing to an adult (chicken salad at space cafe, magic kingdom for example), and cost half the price of adult meals. Also, bring a blindfold for the kids -- most of the major rides make you go through a gift shop to exit :). Finally, bring lots of sunscreen, water bottles, and ways to cool off (necklace fan, etc.) Those things cost an arm and a leg (and then some) at disney.

Well it all depends on what you want to do. I would take at least $500 to $1000 for spending money, but you might not even use that much. Food does add up, so its good that you got a dining plan and a military discount, since you are staying at Shades of green. We (my husband and I) spend on average about $800 just on stuff for us, we get the free dining plan since we are going in Sept., so its kinda hard to estimate on how much money to take. You can spend whatever you feel safe spending, but just keep in mind that some stuff can be found cheaper elsewhere, like at the resorts, I noticed last year, but I cant be sure. Just make sure to buy ponchos and refillable water bottles, you will need them both! Have fun, be safe, and give Mickey a big kiss for me!

take a $ 1000 for spending money. You may not spend it all, but it's better if you have more than you may need.
Are you renting car, extra fees? gas?
Souvenirs in Disney? they are expensive
food in Disney? try to eat in an affordable place. I ate at the pinocchio restaurant ( behind the castle) in Magic Kingdom, it was affordable.
Bring your own bottle of water and refill it at the water fountains.
I went there in March, 07. We are two cheap adults, and spent $ 60 per day only in food and water. You have children and that increases the expenses.
Have fun

It depends on how long you are staying and if you already have your tickets for entrance or not. If not bring at least $1000.00. Everything is expensive and adds up.
