About a month ago my battery light started to come on. I took my car to autozone to have them test my alternator and my battery and the both are running fine. The light went away the next day and then the other night I was driving and the light came back on when I hit my brake lights---also my abs light came on right before the car died. It seems that it only happens at night time. I haven't been driving when it dies, I usually will pull over when it acts funny-- so i don't know if it will die if I'm driving. The 3 times its died its been at a stop light and I had to get a boost off. I had a local shop work on it and they didn't know what to do, they said they ran a electrical test on the battery and alternator and both were fine. Any help is appreciated!

i never trust auto zones diagnoses they are not mechanics and i don't think they know how to use there test equipment correctly ....................... it sounds like you have a bad diode in your alternator or the belt is loose if the belt is tight i would re check the alternator............................ to save you some time and headaches buy your alternator from car quest not auto zone as there failure rate is way to high for me.......................... unless you like to chainge it every year or more

If you've never replaced the battery on your car and you bought it new, then the battery's 8 years old and needs to be replaced no matter what the battery test indicates. An original equipment battery will be an AC Delco battery.

Scott,by your description it looks as though the charging circuit it breaking down under the heavy load imposed by the headlights.My suggestion is to replace the alternator,even though it seems ok when tested.It may be failing only after becoming hot.
