1. divide both sides by -a because you want x by itself on one side.

-b/-a = -ax/-a

2. on the left side remember that a negative number multiplied or divided by another negative number makes a positive number

-b/-a = b/a

3. on the right side remember that any number divided by itself makes 1
-ax/-a = 1x = x

4. therefore you will end up with
-b/-a = -ax/-a
b/a = x

therefore the correct anwser is a
