Now that the Atlanta Braves have paid out big money for Smoltz to stay the last few years, does that mean Andrew Jones is as good as gone for next year? I heard a lot of people saying it was either him or Smoltz, but they could not have both.

The owners of the Braves, Liberty Media Group only bought the Braves to tie up their money so they wouldn't have to pay so many taxes on the several hundred million they had in the bank. Chipper Jones said before the year he thought Andruw would be back, but I don't see how Liberty Media is going to come close to matching the 130-140 million Boston will offer Andruw.

It's pretty unlikely that the Braves will resign Andruw Jones, seeing is how Smoltz's new deal will eat up $ 14 million. Glad the Braves signed Smoltzie to a new contract, though. It means he'll finish his career as a Brave. I think 'Druw is probably having his last go-around with Atlanta this season.

I think they will sign Andrew Jones to a long term contract. He IS the Braves as is Smoltz, so I don't see the Braves letting him go. Look for a contract extension very soon.

Chow!!

IF the new ownership takes over before the season ends. Then that will make a difference. Libert Media Group will want to make a splash with a Huge move of resigning Andruw Jones.

First its Andruw with a 'u';-), and I think he will be around for one more season if the Braves are in contention late this season. If we are out of it by the end of July, they may go looking to dump salary before the treade deadline. I think he will still be on the roster next season if they make a decent post season run. Schuerholz isn't one for dumping talent just b/c of $$. He needs a promising prospect waiting in the wings first.

I'm a Braves fan. I am glad to see that Smotzie will most likely finish his career with Atlanta! As for Andruw...I don't know. I sure hope he stays...but it's baseball & it's business. So time will tell.

I think the Braves will try to sign Andrew Jones, unless his demands are too great.

yep. Texiara had an quite outstanding initiate with the Braves. They picked up an elite starter in John Smoltz. Brian McCann receives over a sophmore droop. John Smoltz and Glavine might want to need to perfect be getting previous, yet they although are 2 of the applicable pitchers interior the league. and they have Hudson in the back of them. Jeff Francouer will do more advantageous positive than he did very very last season (which says plenty, wondering he hit one 0.5 RBI's). and also you would possibly want to't ignore about about Chipper Jones. He set occupation highs in doubles and batting difficulty-loose and can want to need to steer this team to the playoffs. they even were close very very last 365 days. interior the adventure that they'd Texiara all 365 days, they could have made the playoffs. The Mets don't have any pitching now and can want to fade off. Jimmy Rollins gained't journey numbers from very very last 365 days and the Phillies will fade. That leaves Braves, Marlins, and Nationals. You do the mathematics.
