He has poor A levels (although one maths)

Dropped out of uni and is now a cook. How can he claim he is more intelligent than me when I work in the city and have a Bsc.

Whats the best way to rub his face in it.

The fact that you want to "rub his face in it" does not show a ton of intelligence.

He may end up being a world class chef and knew that his dream or destiny was not tied up in a degree.

You may have a degree and that, perhaps, proves that you are more "book smart" than he is in certain subjects but he may be more "life smart" than you are right now.

I would say if this person is truly a friend the best thing would be to set a day that you can ask him to teach you how to make a great dinner for your special someone and while you two are doing that maybe you could impart some knowledge that he does not have at this moment.

Trying to prove that one or the other of you is smarter than the other will do nothing but create hard feelings and if you two are friends you should be encouraging each other to do great things and follow your dreams what ever they may be!!

I agree with previous posters. YOu don't have to be smart to get a degree now! I know people who got into uni. with no A levels, and EVENTUALLY got a degree.

THe iq tests on the internet (don't know if that's where you found one or not) are not reliable indicators of intelligence! I did one and got 137, and I do not believe for one second that is accurate.

I think the best thing to do, is just humour your friend Dave Quinn, by saying things like 'yes Dave of course you're more intellligent than me.' He'll soon get bored.

Proberly not something you want to hear but just because you have a degree doesn't necessarily mean you're smarter than him. Plus, there are many (apparently 17) different ways to measure intelligence.

So, you guys can always sit down and play a game of chess (this will test his and your strategic intelligence), or you could do a Reubik's Cube and time it...Or an IQ test etc. The possiblities are endless.

Or better still, cook something more delicious than him.

The only way to prove something like that to someone who is so arrogant and self-assured to state that he's more intelligent than you, is to beat him at his own game, or challenge him to something you excel at etc.

Good luck!

There is a difference between educated and intelligent. Having a degree does not insure intelligence. Some of the great minds in history never got a degree. The richest man in the world, Bill Gates made his fortune without a degree.

There are alot of idiots that have masters degrees as well, you don't have to have a piece of paper to be intelligent. Even though it is a ficticious story, take a look at the movie Good Will Hunting. Some people are self taught and don't care to pay 80,000 to get the same thing you could get for $8 in late fee's at the library. I am one of those non-university people that are most likely quicker witted than you are. I am book smarts, street smarts and a sense of humour judging by the wording of your question, that you couldn't hold a candle to! But who knows. Take care, enjoy being competitive with someone who probably enjoys their job and doesn't care to compete with you!

I have a degree and am married to a man who doesn't. But he is clearly smarter than I am in a lot of areas. He is brilliant at so many things. History and math come to him very naturally. He is able to fix just about anything by taking it apart and putting it back together. He is a computer programmer and has extensive knowledge in this area. My friends call him a walking encyclopedia.

I think you should be proud of your degree without feeling that you have to rub his face in it. He may know a lot more than he is letting on. I learned to respect that he is just very knowledgable. I'm proud of him for it.

I have a degree but that doesn't make me better than anyone else, I'd say my bf is very intelligent and he has only got GCSE's. Why should it matter who is more intelligent, if you were more intelligent you wouldn't be asking this silly question. The key word in your sentence that I'm going to focus on is 'friend', friends don't think they are better than each other and want to make each other jealous. End of.

The degree has NO relevance really. Take joint IQ tests in a College of Psychology, or at any place of your preference and convenience. College of Psychology can, numerically and objectively, evaluate a person's IQ.

CAUTION : Meet a Professor of Psychology or a Psychologist, and NOT a Psychiatrist...

Both take an IQ test for Mensa. Just because you have a degree it does not make you more intelligent, it just means you gutted it out and had the money to do so.
My question to you is... what does it matter to you what he thinks?

Do the coin trick! Let him see you press a penny into your forehead, then smack the back of your head to get it off.

When he asks you what you are doing, tell him it's an intelligent test - the more times you have to hit your head to make it drop, the more intelligent you are.

Then do it to him, press the penny in HARD, then take it away without him seeing. He'll think it's still there and will be smacking his head for ages thinking he's really smart!!!!!
