Any and all violence is wrong. Domestic, meaning family, why would you want to hurt the people you love? Domestic violence is brought on by disrespect, hate, anger, jealousy, etc. Those are all bad traits. There isn't anything good about domestic violence. It ruins families, people's self-esteem, people's self-worth, and basically ruins their life.

First if you're doing research...you should not be asking a question on Yahoo Answer for your research. Second, you should be doing peer-review such as journals that can answer the question.

However the moral dilemma of domestic violence is how men and women are generally socialized as children. And how the everchanging society looks at marriage and violence. Some places still believe it is a private matter or that the woman did something to make it happen. Some men are even using reverse abuse to take lenses away that this is a very big problem! So yes, DV is wrong, but it is more about getting the court and community to realize HOW WRONG it is. And do to something about it.

There's no "moral dilemma". A moral dilemma implies an "ethical struggle"...a difficulty in determining what is right or wrong in a given situation. I am assuming that you are instructed to write an informative essay about domestic violence, not a persuasive one. You don't need to "persuade" anyone that domestic violence is wrong. It simply IS. So find some statistics on DAV, remember to talk about how it affects men, women, and children, and perhaps offer some solutions at the end. That's all you have to do.

youre best bet is to look up some official websites. endabuse.com is a REALLY good one. basically, the moral dilemma of domestic violence is that while society allowed it for a long time (at one point there was a law that said a man could beat a woman with anything that was smaller around than his wrist) it causes pain, suffering, and in some cases death.

I don't believe that it is a moral dilemma, it is a criminal one. The fact is that domestic violence is rarely reported...at least not the first time it is perpetrated. I realize there are all kinds of reasons for that, but as long as people (women, mostly) accept the abuse and do not seek out legal assistance, they will be victims in a never ending cycle. Children in abusive homes are the most innocent of victims, and yet some women will continue to allow the abuse to be inflicted upon her...which only sets the children up for emotional and psychological problems.

Domestic abuse needs to be recognized - by the victim - as criminal activity. And it needs to be treated that way. People can always find justification for remaining quiet...but no good ever comes from that. And I don't know how many cases we have to see and read about before women need to understand this and address it in their lives.

Depends what kind of Domestic Violence you're refering to.

Generally this term is used to describe a man beating his wife, which is obviously wrong. Certainly you can see that's wrong though.

I'll assume that the situation you're refering to is when two consenting adults want to fight one another. Honestly, I don't think there is anything wrong with it; however, I believe the moral dilemma for authorties is that they could seriously harm one another when they feel their problem can be solved more "civil".

The moral dilemma is that adults of any gender ID should not be doing something (hitting) they were in all probability taught NOT to do when they were 2 years old.
How hard is that?
Good luck

There should be no dilema reguarding this subject. Conquring through physical violence in your own home is just plain wrong. Sometimes I have this cartoon vision of stragling my husband until his eyes pop out and then the mad is over and I get back to life as usual.

It's nice that a lot of people here are assuming that it must be the woman who is suffering the abuse.

On a more serious note, domestic violence is wrong. It causes psychological and physical damage.

Back to my first comment. See the following:
"Recent research carried out for the Marriage and Relationship Counselling Service (MRCS) found that women are more likely than men to perpetrate domestic violence. This report, based on a survey of 530 clients of MRCS, found that, where domestic violence occurs, mutual violence accounts for 33% of cases, female perpetrated violence accounts for 41% and male perpetrated violence for 26%."

A note about the link:
According to the Government Departments (Health and Justice) who have responsibilities in this area, the NCC (the page linked) study is the definitive piece of research on domestic violence in this country. (the country being Ireland)

Its violence, isn't that enough to tell you ?

Please be more descriptive in your first question, it will save the responders from guessing what you are trying to ask. If you don't like the responses , try asking the question a little better. Many questions are asked on this forum and many of them are just very vague ,people can't understand what the person is asking .

Sometimes its better to not to always find a public opinion on this topic, because you have an idea what will be expressed about it . Its not acceptable in society, but sadly it happens very to often.
