Not dumber...I think the older I get the more I know that I DON'T know everything, whereas when I was younger I thought I knew it all. I think that's part of wisdom, the humility to know you don't know everything. I guess it depends on how you look at it. : )

Nah. It's important to keep learning through the years, though. The brain is like a muscle. If you don't use it, it will atrophy.
Younger people can also put us to shame when it comes to quickly remembering facts, especially while they're still in school. You can't beat a younger person to the buzzer in a lightning quiz game.
But as you get older, your ability to synthesize information increases. So although it might take you a few second to figure out the difference between radius and circumference, you have more accumulated knowledge and you should be better than a younger person at putting the information together and making sense out of it, as long as you're bothering to keep on learning. Learning should be a life-long process.

NOW honestly, why would you (and all the others who feel that way) think that ? If you ask me as we get on in years we are expected to act 'our age' and that means slower, duller and dumber. My father is 82 years old. But he is sprightly, alert, paints, and drives himself around. He is able to participate in any discussion intelligently and with awareness. He certainly doesn't seem to have been affected by the years. You may not be able to handle, say, the latest gizmo's-but your generation is talented in so many other ways! Don't ever give in to the feeling of being dumb or dumber. You aren't! So sez I !!

It's kind of paradoxical.

The older I get, the wiser I feel. However, with that wisdom comes the realization of just how foolish and ignorant I was back in the good old days when I knew everything.

Welcome to the club!!!

But hey, it's just an impression you have! Doesn't have to be true! The 'humbler' you feel about your skills and intelligence, the
'wiser' you are getting, because you are awaking to the fact that there's so much more to know in this world and you are so insignificant!!!

'Feeling dumb' (as long as you're not depressive!!!) and accepting the fact that you 'don't' know is the first
step towards trying to get wise!

When you get to a certain age they say the brain stops incoming signals to the brain of intelligence.

Although there is evidence to say that if you exercise your brain regularly on Question and Answer's, you might be able to beat your mind from drifting into Alzheimer's time zone.

That's why the spell check on Question and Answer's is not user friendly and belongs into a past time zone of DOS.

Thus you have to think for yourself on Microsoft.

Yes, it's because we never stop learning, and we have this mentality that once we reach a certain point in our lives, we will have attained most of what we need to live a happy, healthy life. I have realized this is not true. The more we know, the more we want to know--and the more we want to know, the more we realize we didn't know what we could have known. Not to mention that fact that we already know that we don't know what it is that we don't know and need to know.

No, I don't think it's just you. I'll be 41 shortly and I feel like I'm not nearly as sharp as I was at 20. I know what I know...but that's about it. Anything beyond that can easily be out of reach.

I'm starting to feel that. I think it's because younger people seem to know so much more about technology and things than we do, and they manage to keep up with things quicker through school and things.

Yeah, a lot of the time but the easier it is to get answers too. I just don't ask the questions.
