Could be from sleeping in the wrong position, if the ankle was resting on your other leg. Put some heat or cold pack on it, keep it elevated and see what happens.

i was in a rugby match once, and i got knocked around as usuall. But after the game there was this sack or a lump of fluid on my knee. i guess this might be your problem. the sack will subside in 2 day apprx. ice and elevation will be crucial for your recovery.
