If you were to fill out 3 sweepstakes cards, using regular bic ballpoint ink (lets say in blue for the sake of argument), a fine-tip blue (again!) marker or a no. 2 pencil (regular, not coloured), and you write exactly the same info, samy size, etc..., which is heavier? Which drops to the bottom of the bunch of entries and which would stay on top.

Theoretically speaking of course, because I'm sure there not enough difference in weight to make a diff. in the sweepestakes, but I've been dying to know this.

My theory: marker is the LIGHTEST because it's mostly water which evaporates and leave a stain, while ballpoint is the HEAVIEST beacue it stays on the paper. Pencil lead is made up of particles that disperse, but enough stay on the paper to mark it, so I think, being lead, it would be heavier than marker.

I'm not a scientist, I'm a nerd :)

And thanks in advance to anyone who reads/answers this!

And I'm sorry I didn't read my question before posting it! I really don't write that badly!!!!

ok, lead, graphite, that's what I meant. I know lead is dangerous but I couldn't think of the word "graphite". Hey, I said I'm no scientist HAHA

The difference in weight among those three would be statistically insignificant, so you gain no advantage by using one over the other.

There is no lead in pencils anymore (since its dangerous?). Pencils now have graphite in them.

that velocity can be calculated not only on the basis of their mass(M) weight(W) but also depends on power you use to push and structure(X) of that thing..
So it taken V=(W*M2)+X its 100% that pencil and pen will have an equal ratio but marker is having a quite higher.
So, pencil : pen -> marker

ballpoint penn... or just get a weighing scale and you'll know.
