I suspect since he was the first and made so many in the early sixties. It was really groundbreaking stuff when it came out. But did you know that Roger Moore was selected first to play Bond originally but was in a contract at the time. I am glad he eventually got to play Bond because I think he and Connery were the only two really good ones. Brosnan not too bad either.

He was the first "official" Bond and was the combo of rough around the edges and suave when necessary, the others until Daniel Craig played suave more than anything else.
Sean played the character which resembled the Bond from the novels.

No no no. It's really only a choice between him and Roger Moore as far as number of films go and since Roger Moore is such a WUSS there's really no choice. Yes I'm 39 and I just called someone a "wuss".
Oh yah and Sean was cool as hell and much more believable as a "lady's man".
