Since u have taken the comparison of only Hayden and Pieterson, Hayden will be better batsman because he has the capability to take any bowling to shreds. But definitely he would not qualify as the best of the present day cricket batsmen.

Mathew Hayden is a left-hander and a prolific scorer for Australia in this 2007 World Cup. Hayden scores over Kevin Pietersen and is the best batsman.
Kevin has in the recent times has been consistent performer for England and was the top scorer for England in this World Cup, but needs to win matches for his country which makes one a great batsman.
Hayden has won many a matches for Australia single-handedly which shows that he is match winner.

I say K P cos im English and hes the most entertaining .Noone can deny Hayden at the moment as hes been the best batsman at the world cup. Ricky Ponting might be better than both of them.

Both are Great batsmen,Kevin has a long way to go,no doubt he is a good bats man but Hayden is proven time and again that performance in big games He is far better than Lara or tendulkar.
