As a very young kid they were "The IT" about a clown who lived in the sewers and ate children. That movie has me wierded out for many years. I watched it again when I was maybe 15 or so and it was just cheesy to me, but also offered some kind of relief because of that.
And this other movie I don't remember the name of that had 3 or 4 stories in it. One was about this monster that hung out in schools mostly in the ceiling above the bathrooms and when kids were in there he would eat/kill them. He would also wear adults skin so he could walk around unnoticed as a human. Another short in that movie was about a kid who caught all kinds of flies and tortured them by ripping their wings and legs off, then they came back for revenge as giant flies and ripped all the kids limbs off. Another was the fat woman who ate at this popular fried chicken place all the time and it turned out they were really rats being fried and served. I think what happened in that one was everyone found out and was horrified but the woman didn't care because she liked the taste so much.
As an adult I can't really think of any that were even scary. It kind of sucks because it's fun to be scared sometimes. But the closest that has gotten to scaring me were movies/tv shows based on or reenactments of sopposed true events like ghosts, demons, possessions. The Exorcism of Emily Rose was kind of freaky. I really hate the movie Arachnophobia still though because I'm somewhat of an arachnophobe.

I loved 28 Days Later and I hate scary films. What's that about?? Did you hear that they're just making a sequal. Not sure how it will work, but can't wait.
Scariest film is probably The Omen.

For some reason I thought the new Texas Chain Saw Massacre was really scary the first time I saw it, but after the first time I just thought it was a good movie. I was also scared by The Hills have Eyes the first time I saw it.

Exorcist 3.
Forget one or two, this is the one to go for in terms of messin with you. Very much like seven..it doesn't show you the horrors, only the aftermath of them and it lets the audiences own imagination fill in the gaps which is much worse than any CG today.
