I doubt "The King" was gay - though I suppose that he might have been AC/DC (so to speak.)
The lyrics, rather than being "autobiographical", were most probably meant more as a "joke", reflecting the conditions of life in prison.
Besides, Elvis didn't write the lyrics (or the music.)

Written by: Jerry Leiber, Mike Stoller
Produced by: Steve Sholes
Released: Oct. '57 on RCA
Charts: 27 weeks
Top spot: No. 1
Songwriters Leiber and Stoller had already penned a couple of Presley hits -- most notably "Hound Dog," picked up from Big Mama Thornton -- but their theme song for Presley's third movie was decidedly silly, the kind of tongue-in-cheek goof they had come up with for the Coasters. The King, however, sang it as straight rock & roll, overlooking the jokes in the lyrics (like the suggestion of gay romance when inmate Number 47 tells Number 3, "You're the cutest jailbird I ever did see") and then introducing Scotty Moore's guitar solo with a cry so intense that the take almost collapses."

Would it change your opinion of his music if he were? Depending on how far right your up bringing/ belief system is i would suppose it would, am i right? Need to be careful about such things, much of what you like and possibly even depend on was more than likely created by a gay person. In general terms the gay person is more creative than the politically correct. That means that, in general terms the politically correct is more stagnant then the gay. What is it they say, "Lead follow or get out of the way!" Believe me, the more creative the mind the better suited to leadership the person.

He may of just been referring to the reality of
homosexuality in prisons. Even straights giving in to satisfy their sex.
I read a book on astrology and sex. Elvis was a Capricorn, and Capricorns are supposed to like the back door.
Don't hate me, that's what it said. And men do that with women, and Elvis may have never actually did it. Just thought about it.
But it's obvious the reason so many Hollywood men turn gay, is because they get so much of women, they need a new thrill.

I doubt it. Elvis had more women that I can count. He made the song for a movie, so the lyrics probably had something more to do with the scenario.

I never thought about it. I think he was refering to dancing. In Greece men dance together. Why not in jail?
