why does this happen? is my pc not setup properly?

i have two lcd monitors hooked up to my graphics card, the main monitor displays fine, but the other monitor is clear in parts and blurred in parts. no amount of toggling the monitor settings seems to clear up the problem.

what is the problem?

extra info: both monitors are brand new. the pc is brand new. when you swap them round (physically) they swap the behaviours. ie the primary monitor is clear, and the secondary monitor is blurred.

thank you for the answers so far [h]

It's difficult to say without knowing more info. It could be the card or the VGA cables or something could be causing interference. Have you swapped the monitors over so that the one playing up is the primary monitor? (presuming it isn't already).

You have mentioned that when you swap the monitor around that the behavior changes so I dont think there is something wrong with your monitor or settings. The problem might be with the computer environment. You might have something magnetic in nature on one side of your desk such as a speaker, Radio, Digital Camera/Cellphone chargers etc. Those items might cause some problem with your monitor. Try to clear the space around the monitors and identify which device or item is causing the problem.

I have the same experience at work and I resolve the problem by moving the speaker away from the monitor.

Good Luck!

Can you swap the cables to see if that is the problem? Is refresh Hz setting same for both?

Have you tried both monitors on lower pixel size settings. Both alike there probably indicates that the graphics card is having problems on frequency generation for two large displays.

Are the monitors different resolution?

Your screen size in Windows should match the maximum resolution of the monitor.

Otherwise the blurred monitor is dying.

As a follow on to that suggestion ^^^ sometimes both monitors need to be on the same refresh rate but, I've seen on some laptops where the refresh rate has to be different.

My first guess would be the "fuzzy" LCD itself if going bad. Try it on another computer. If it is still fuzzy, then it is the monitor, not the video card.

maybe its your video cards fault. The clear one maybe primary & fuzzy one maybe secoundry & your card might not be that powerfull to run them both so its running only one properly.
