Good Idea in principle but can you imagine how unhappy a southern team like Southampton or Portsmouth would be if they had to travel all the way to say Inverness!
It would spice it up a bit cos it does seem like an non-cup for the bigger clubs, it doesn't have the tradition or the excitement of the FA cup.

I think a better Idea would be to send Arsenal, Man U, Chelsea, Celtic and Rangers off to some Island where they can play each other continually, and give other teams a chance. This would certainly help the Scottish league as it must be the most boring in the world.

Arsenal and guy Utd do no longer cope with the Carling Cup very heavily, they play their teenagers. guy Utd would field Ronaldo this night yet i think of it is basically to get him in high quality condition for the premiere League video games. Arsenal bypass after the Premiership and Champions League each and every 12 months then next is the FA Cup and final is the Carling Cup. Arsenal nonetheless get somewhat a good distance interior the Carling Cup as our infants usually do ok. Chelsea take the Carling Cup heavily as they desire to win however trophy and Liverpool will purely take it heavily in the event that they get to the late tiers of the contest.

Great idea mate.....but it would be horrible if one of them went and won it!! they should come in at the same stage as the premiership teams...or how about doing away with the Scottish and English league cups all together and having an Anglo-Scottish cup each year...the first couple of rounds could be divided into a Northern and Southern section so the smaller teams don't have to travel too far, then from 3rd or 4th round everone could go in the same draw...I think that would be great!

Er no.
Why ?
How about inviting a couple of irish teams - makes absolutely no sense. This is like when people say celtic and rangers should join the premier league.
no-one says they should join the french league or the welsh league. They are Scottish - let them play in Scotland.

there is no way the Scottish teams play in the Carling Cup as the competition is only meant for teams from ENGLAND. the Carling Cup should stick to only English teams.

No, i don't think so. The scottlish league cup means fairly little for teams unless they make the final, i'm not convinced that playing in the english one is going to be all that different after the novelty dies down.

no.no.no.no.....the whole point of the carling cup(league cup) is that it is a competition that only league members can take part in, if your gona let the scots in then let small teams like wimbledon afc, crawley town, morecombe!?!? maybe make a one of special anglo-celtic cup every four years where four teams from scotland and england play( not neciserally the top four of the leagues.!?

Could test out the possibity I suppose. But pity the poor clubs (withouit much money) having to travel so far for an away game!
Imagine Exeter City having to go to Glasgow to play!

this competition is widely used by teams to play their reserves. why should scottish teams be allowed to use english football competitions to do this. very unfair on fans. imagine travelling from southern england to glasgow, or vise versa just to see reserve team football.
