Sean Connery because he played the combination of rough around the edges and suave. The first two movies weren't gadget filled so you saw more character than flash
Daniel Craig- this one was a tough one for me but he takes the franchise back to where it should be- to the essence of the books. This role is most like the character of Bond before he became bolstered by gadgets
Pierce Brosnan- took suave to a whole new level.
I have to disagree with you about George Lazensby. He played the character as it should have been played. Anyway, he was miles better than the stiff Timothy Dalton

Sean Connery - especially in the first two films, Dr No and From Russia With Love, where there was no that much emphasis on gadgets.

Daniel Craig has also made an impact as the type of Bond that Ian Fleming wrote about, a cold blooded licensed assassin with a veneer of manners.

Would have chosen Sean Connery as he is a great actor himself.... but would have to say it's Daniel Craig for me. That guy gets it rough with dirt and blood in his mouth. A less 'glamorous' Bond is something more believable as a spy or secret agent. Less reliance on gadgets too.... but that's more of the script
