Relax, take a deep breath. This has happened to me before. I got a bloody nose once in school and the nurse just took my sweatshirt, ran it under cold water where the stain was, used hand soap, rinsed that, then poured peroxide over the stain. Let that set while my nose was trying to stop bleeding, and by time i was ready to go to class, the blood was completely gone!

And just as a tip for ladies who have the occasional monthly leakage...put some peroxide and laundry detergent directly on the stain, rub it together, soak it in really cold water, for an hour or so, rinse, ring it out and throw it in the laundry...you'll have 100% stainless undies! DON'T use bleach, even on white stuff just b/c it can eat through the fabric!! Hope this helps!

Oh what a shame. I read the other answers and everyone thinks it's a joke.
Peroxide is good but it may also stain the shirt....
One thing you don't want to do is DRY it in the dryer before you get the stain out completely. The heat from the dryer will surely "set" the stain....
Try Shout or the stain stick...you may have to do it a couple of times....
You can also wash it and let it soak in the washer in some detergent and bleach....
Oxy will help also.
Good luck.

Saline removes blood stains effectively, that they use it at hospitals. Spray the fabric with water, make a paste with good old Table Salt, (the kind found in any kitchen cabinet or at any resturant). Throw in the washer and be amazed. No presoaking or scrubbing necessary. This will not work with clothes that have already set in with heat from the dryer, but can be used even if the clothing article has set around for a few days.

I hope this was helpful,Take Care!!! :)

Soak the stain with hydrogen peroxide and wait 1/2 hour. Then wash on warm water. If the stain is not completely gone, repeat the process. DO NOT DRY THE SHIRT until the stain is completely gone.
If the blood stain is fresh you can also wash it mostly out with Ivorry bar soap and warm water, let soak for 1 hour. then wash as usual.
This method will work with cotton and most cotton blends. For rayon, wool, silk and other fabrics read the instructions on the tag.

Hydrogen Peroxide is the best for blood stains. Just think what it does when you put it on a cut. Soak the spot, scrub it, soak it longer if needed. This should do the trick. If it is stubborn you could use a bleach pen on a small stain. If you do, you must rinse quickly. I've had peroxide work on new and old blood stains.

Persistent stains: Washable fabrics

Steps
1Step Sponge the stain lightly with a solution of equal parts ammonia and water.
2Step Apply a laundry pre-treatment, such as stain remover or detergent.
3Step Launder as usual.
4Step FourAir dry.

Tips & Warnings
Do not use ammonia on silk, wool or linen. Never mix ammonia and bleach!

Persistent Stains: Dry-cleanable fabrics
Steps
1Step Sponge stain lightly with a solution of equal parts water and ammonia.
2Step Rinse fabric in cool water.
3Step Brush spot with a dry towel from the center of the stain out, using light strokes, blending wet into dry. Force moist area to dry from outside in, using a hairdryer or dry towel.

Tips & Warnings
Do not attempt this process if your clothes are linen, silk, or wool. Wetting these fabrics with any liquid especially with water can leave water spots that are almost impossible to remove. With any dry clean garment one can never be sure how a fabric was pretreated or colorfast. If you try to clean these garments yourself you may end up with shrinkage, color bleeding or odd spots on the fabric. Always consult your dry cleaner if you have a question.

I'm not sure which country you are in but in Australia we have a laundry powder called Surf and it gets out 99% of Stains and blood is one of them, I usually soak my bloody items in the powder for several hours before washing it and the stains are usually gone.

I have 2 teenage boys and I haven't yet found anything that works as well as Shout gel. It comes in a small squeeze bottle with a scrubber top and so far there is nothing it won't get out. Great product!

soak it immediately in cold water then get oxi clean and put right on blood stain and still soaking.
Oxiclean is 3 % peroxide and cold... water is key.

Heat sets stain.

Shout is another excellent stain remover.

Peroxide works pretty well, but I usually just rinse really well in cold water, then use soap on the stain. Rinse really well then wash with cold water with regular load of laundry.
