Ha ha ha ha ha ha, LOL!!!
Free health care in the UK and Canada? You might ask some Brits and Canadians just how "free" it really is.
To answer your question. The Second Amendment to The Constitution of the United States, a part of The Bill of Rights, as written by the founders of this country made the right to own a firearm a fundamental part of this country.
You won't find healthcare anywhere in there.

You are really comparing apples to oranges here, the two have absolutely nothing to do with each other. Gun ownership is a right according to the U.S. Constitution. Health care is a service. I don't know how the government works in Canada or the UK, but here, it is about the most in-efficient bunch of paper pushing fools you've ever seen. God help us if our government ever controls healthcare. Just ask our Veterans.

You do have the right to what ever health care you want. You just have to pay for it yourself. Its not the job of government to take care of you. That is your responsibility. The less the government is involved in your life, the better off you will be.
So are you trying to say that if healthcare becomes free then guns will be free to?

You have to pay for the gun, too. Honestly, I am a liberal, but the title to your question just sounds like liberal bullshit. If we all get government-funded healthcare, do you really understand how half-assed that healthcare is going to be? I'm not sure if you've ever been in the hospital a lot, or have had a sick child or relative, but the level of healthcare you get with bad insurance and even "pretty good" insurance is really sh*tty.
Now, I guess that could be an argument in support of your view, but I think we all know if the healthcare is government regulated its going to become like that for all of us. Many of us work hard to get nice things in life, and I would much rather spend my own money to get the best healthcare possible than have the government give me "free" healthcare that is poor.

uh, you are obviously not from the USA...that's ok. Most of us here only know what we see on TV, too.
I don't watch much TV anymore. you know, you grow...
Carrying a weapon is a felony in 47 of the 50 states, felony means a major crime that will get you at least one year in prison, and will cost you your right to vote for the rest of your life.
In the other three states carrying a concealed weapon is legal if one applies for a license to do so, and such licenses are easy to come by.
if a couple of those college students in Virginia had been packing heat, (slang for carrying a weapon) there might not have been 30+ deaths. Just a thought...
and
an American can get free health care at any Emergency Room---well, it's not FREE, but few people who visit an ER pay their (exhorbitant) bill.
but, hey, I probably know even less about the country where you live---all the best, Brian

You obviously do not know the truth, all people in our country have medical care available (not just emergency) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. And it is available regardless of ability to pay.
Why would a country disarm their citizens except to make them subjects of a monarchy, OH I forgot that is what you are, a subject.
In AMerica, we are FREE citizens, not subjects. I guess that is the difference.

Our consitution mentions firearms, but it doesn't mention healthcare.
Some may debate whether or not we even have a "right" to guns, but as far as health care, it says nothing about it other than "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness", so it'd be a stretch to insist that meant health care.
Personally I'd dump the right to a gun in an instant if I could trade it for a right to health care.

and canada and the uk are clearly in a mess to show for it. Health care, contrary to a gun is NOT a possesion. It is a service by a human being expecting to be paid for it. In a capitalist society, painful at it is, freedom is paramount, meaning no one should be expected to be FORCED to preform a service. Look no further than the pelosi/reid regime or Billary C. to see what a slippery slope were sliding down to naitonalize health here. the liberals have it wrong. Taxes and regulation do not stimulate the growth of a healthy financial or economic concern like health insurance...THEY STIFLE IT. If we are ever going to have a workable subsidized health insurance system in this country it needs to be by tax credit and lessend regulation. try getting that one by the pelosi ites...FAT CHANCE.

Read the constitution."The security of a free state "is the subject of the 2nd amendment. Not your "right" to health care. Also not your "right " to hunt.If more people studied their native tongue,we would not have a need for so many lawyers, who also are not very good at comprehending English.Unless,of course, they are merely being disingenuous!
