To true! Good English food would be most welcome. Have you noticed how hard it is to get a ploughman's lunch anywhere. Bring back proper food now

Well, let's say the UK needs more DECENT Indian restuaraunts and i'm talking here about the quality of the food, the interior decoration, the cleanliness of the kitchens and anything that brings them upto date is a good thing.
For too long some curry houses have got away with many things we just wouldn't put up with elsewhere such as appalling hygene and i talk with some knowledge of indian restaurant kitchens.
Many would be closed if health and safety saw what happens on a daily basis, you shouldn't expect to have an upset stomach the next day because you ate a curry because one prepared well and with the right hygene rules wont do this.
Some Curry houses are stuck in the 70's and seem to be frequented by gangs of lager swilling idiots who swear and cause a nuisance, this need to change big time.
If it takes someone likem Shilpa to launch a chain which will give the rest a real kick up the backside and make then raise their game then roll on Ms Shetty.

I like curry. I also think that Indian cuisine has evolved over the past few years. No longer is it chicken tikka and some poppadoms. Now we're seeing real influences from all parts of India and top restaurants such as "La Porte Des Indes" in Marble arch in London.
British food is ok - but haven't we got the Harvester chains and pubs for that? I mean, we can all cook British food at home but I haven't a clue of the combination of spices to make half the things I eat at an Indian restaurant.

Yes, because I grew up in an area with a large Bangladeshi/Pakistani population. But like any foreign cuisine, as the tastes of the host nation become more sophisticated the variations in 'Indian' cuisine will become more pronounced. We have a local restaurant that specialises in dishes from the Kerala region, something that 20 years ago would have just got puzzled looks from customers.

Indian restaurants in UK are good British restaurants. Indian food is 1 of our national dishes - amongst others. I love Indian food 100%.

Probably not, from what I've read on here. Just like Napa Valley doesn't need another Pan-Asian restaurant. You can only saturate the market so much. Variety is a good thing.

Hi im lucky i live in the country sicde but when i lived in the city i couldnt walk anywhere without having the smell of spices hit me like an overdose.
i feel there is way to much imported /replicated food in this country i feel we should be trying to concentrate on getting our name labeled more our food traditional food and a reasonable price.
hope this helps.

I live in a small town and there are far too many of them! Choice for the customer, yes, but it would be so nice to have real English take away food available (not fish and chips!)
