I like snakes/reptiles and dogs but don't own either. If I owned a dog I woudn't trade it for anything.

dog, yes but since my Jet is a cat ... nawww, I'll keep him and think about getting a snake or a reptile when he's dead ... won't be long now ... he's 14. I tell him quite often.
But before you all think I'm horrible, I also tell him that he'll be reunited with Beauty (his co-cat for eight years) when it does happen ... well six months later when I dig his skull up and put it on my bedroom bookcase alongside Beauty's.
