I have today bought a new high speed 5 port usb 2.0 card and I put it into my computer and my windows XP picked it up and said it is ready for use, however when I plug my scanner, webcam or printer in they will not work, I scanned for new hardware and it said the usb devices connected are malfunctioned, so I tried them back in the "old" usb's and they work fine again, my old ports are quite old so I bought the new one, to speed them up. As recommended to do so by XP.

if your motherboard is setup with usb 1 and your new card is usb 2 that may be the problem.....you need to uninstall the hardware from device manager and then reinstall when connected with usb 2....the device drivers may not be functioning as they are setup to run at a slower speed and different resouces than with the usb 2. The other possibilities are that the card is malfunctioning and you need to replace it, or your motherboard isn't giving it enough power (or doesn't have enough) or the card may not be seated properly in the slot.

That maybe not enough power for the 5-port USB to run on the scanner. Try connect the 5-port USB with an adapter then it will work.
hope this help.

Here are the steps for making your computer new again.
1.Take out the usb and put it back in.
2.Blow the dust off of the adapter.

It sounds like the card is non-funtional. We had a batch of 4 port USB internal cards that were faulty. Take it back and get a replacement.

Thats kind of weird. I've never had that happen to me. You might wanna call the company that makes those, and find out what to do, or do a search on Google.
