I believe it's ultimately my decision as to whether or not I chose to be happy. Now, other people can put a definite crimp in your decision making process, but you can still make a choice to pick "happy" over "sad".

There are two forms of happiness.

One is the inner feeling of happiness that comes from attaining your own self realization. Say, you work for 2 years on a nursing degree and you pass the bar. That happiness came about because you accomplished something you worked hard to accomplish.

The other form is seen in sharing. You share a moment of joy and laugh at the same joke, or share close comfort together. A night in each other's arms by a fire, could be construed as happiness.

While both feel warm and fuzzy, the first one is of your own creation. The second requires the two, or more, to share the feelings. So the creation is broader and less intense until shared.

When I walk into a room the whole room lights up.

Ofcourse, I flicked the wall switch.

Here's a little song I wrote
You might want to sing it note for note
Don't worry, be happy.
In every life we have some trouble
But when you worry you make it double
Don't worry, be happy.
Don't worry, be happy now.

(Chorus)
Don't worry, be happy. Don't worry, be happy.
Don't worry, be happy. Don't worry, be happy.

Ain't got no place to lay your head
Somebody came and took your bed
Don't worry, be happy.
The landlord say your rent is late
He may have to litigate
Don't worry, be happy.

(Chorus)
(Look at me -- I'm happy. Don't worry, be happy.
Here I give you my phone number. When you worry, call me,
I make you happy. Don't worry, be happy.)

Ain't got no cash, ain't got no style
Ain't got no gal to make you smile
Don't worry, be happy.
'Cause when you worry your face will frown
And that will bring everybody down
Don't worry, be happy.

(Chorus)
(Don't worry, don't worry, don't do it.
Be happy. Put a smile on your face.
Don't bring everybody down.
Don't worry. It will soon pass, whatever it is.
Don't worry, be happy.
I'm not worried, I'm happy...)

Yes, I believe that genuine happiness is created by self and that happiness can be collected from others.

Happiness is the result of one's determination to see the positive side of every event in their life, and focus all of their power on to creating more of what they truly want as fulfillment.
