RAID is a protocol which is implemented on servers to counter redundancy. In normal words to avoid data loss in case of hard disk crash & to keep server working without interuptions a parelall server is installed and after implementation of RAID server starts working from mumber one server that is named 0 but data generated are saved on both server alike. In case of hardware or software failure in server 0 domain keeps on working from another server which is named 1. I think am clear enough to make you understand.

RAID-0 is stripping, using both drives as one, its much faster as data are written to both drives at the same time, drawback is losing one drive will cause data lost on both drives.

RAID-1 is mirroring, meaning same data is written to both drives, losing one drive will not cause data lost as the same data are also on second drive, draw back is slightly slower speed, and lost of capacity, ie. 2x250GB drive = 250GB storage space
