I have two choices : one with a 14' wide display - another one with 15' full screen

I know about wide screens and why they are better in some ways ... but I'm also concerned with the overall viewing area

i want to know which one has more viewing area ?

The bigger the screen size the greater the viewing area - for the same aspect ratio.

for the same screen size a wide screen has less viewing area than a regular full frame one.

So a 14" wide is defiantly less real estate than a 15" FF.

The other question you need to ask is if what you want is more square inches of viewing area, or more pixels so that you can get more information on the screen.

You can get 14" screens that have more pixels than some 15" screens - it just gets harder to read it.

For general use, what you see on the screen is determined by the pixel dimensions. 17 inch and 19 inch (diagonal) non-WS LCD monitors both display 1280 x 1024 pixels. For people like me, character size is too small on the 17 inch variety.

No matter which way you look at it, 15" will always be bigger then 14".

So, go for a 15" one.

change the CPU. twin middle CPUs are gonna quickly be ineffective for gaming, exceptionally with PS4/XBOX 720 coming quickly and rasing the bar for gaming. something is superb. merely suggested the different answer, and there are not any 7 cores.4 cores at 2.7+ GHz are better than adequate for gaming.
