Certainly, it will be wise for you and for your child to divorce him. After drinking for 8 more years, will he be able to leave the habit. It is not possible. He has no love and respect for you and it is high time you say goodbye to him. I am sorry to advise you like this, but I see no point in your being with him.

Try to be an understanding wife. Has he problems at work or family? It could be quite rough for the man of the house. Be caring and show that you are there for him. Tell him that you are willing to help him whatever way you can. Try to be positive about it. That is if you want to make the marriage work. Just a thought.

Try talking to him when he is sober, if that doesn't work end your marriage. Whoever answers i will stop drinking when i am 40, 50, 60 whatever obviously has a drinking problem or is not to be taken seriously or relied upon.

It sounds like he is living the single life already.
Marriage is an institution that both parties must adhere to. If he is not working at the marriage it is not unreasonable to want a divorce. Try a separation first. see if that brings him to his senses.

Forget him and live your life. Your children deserve better than a father who comes back home drunk in the middle of the night. And do you.
There are enough nice men. How come you are with such a man?

Divorce, atleast that what I would do. An try not to have any more kids with him. The more children you have with a man, the harder it is to leave.

Dump this zero and get yourself a hero, unless he wants to change his way and become your hero. But it does not sound like it.

You don't deserve any of that crap. Leave him. He's a big boy. Let him make his own choices - you don't have to go along with them.
