As someone who used to go there when it was a free festival I have to say no.
It has become a commercial enterprise and has lost a lot because of that. My son goes now and from what he tells me I'm so glad to have been able to experience the "true" meaning of Glastonbury.
There are still some hippies around but we are middle aged now!

Oh definitely. I went for the first time in 2005 and you just feel so free and safe from harm - nobody wanted to leave. It's like this netherworld, an escape from real life.

It's so unlike many of the other big festivals and such an indescribable experience. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

See you in the Green Fields?

Glastonbury now and Glastonbury 20 years ago have nothing in common, except perhaps the mud.

No. Smoking weed doesn't make someone a hippy.

A small minority of aging flower-children might still regard it as a hippyfest, but for the rest it is merely a pseudo-hippy experience - sure they'll live in a tent and smoke weed and whatever, but they'll go home to their materialistic lives once it's over.

NO, If you go there like a hippy you’ll look like a redneck in a rock and roll bar!!
That’s because there aren’t many true Hippys any more.
