In the process of synthesizing different drugs using combinorial chem and aminoacids, what are the "plastic beads" used for and why are they necessary? My chem prof does not do a very good job of explaining this so i would like a better explaination thanx!

I think you could be talking about resin. They are used to separate different amino acids based on either charge or hydrophobicity.

The plastic beads act as surfaces which adsorb diff compounds based on their philicity.
