First you need a fixed IP address from your ISP, they charge extra for this. They may want you to upgrade to a business account, again more money. The machine you use will need to be running continuously so will need to be a reliable dedicated server. You will need to open the imap, pop3 and smtp ports in it's firewall, also you will need to forward theses ports through your router to the server. You will need to set up very tight security for sending particularly or you will become an open relay, and will be turned off by your ISP.
