The water rises in a spring chamber , pipes to a large collection chamber, alkathene pipe down the hill to the house and copper pipe in the house. The blue color suggests the copper but most houses use copper.
Thanks.

The water has been tested at the taps as well as the spring and collection chamber. The water is acidic as suggested by RScott. Is there any solution other than changing the pipework?

Have the pH of your water tested, I would bet its low (acidic). The water is slowly disolving the copper in your pipes and depositing the blue/green salts on your bath fixtures. Not much you can do except change the copper pipe to plastic. weak acids like diluted hydrochloric or even vinegar should get rid of the stains.

Brian is correct. The blue color is from copper pipes. You can get rid of it by replacing all of the copper lines with PVC.

Have a sample tested from the tap, not from the spring. If the water is very pure it could be dissolving the copper - water is a solvent!

The rotten egg smell is natural gas. A broken gas line next to the water source is a possibility. My opinion on why the smell goes away is because the water dilutes it out.
