I'm 42 and I have had two periods this month...4/1 for 5 days and 4/26...no chance I'm pregnant?

Question

I just discussed polycystic overies with my doctor Tuesday. He said we'd discuss it next time because he was checking so many other things this week.
I am insulin resistant and have never been pregnant...so I kinda fit the polycystic profile. And I noticed my first "old lady " chin hair this week.


What do you think?
Are my periods too close?
Do you think I cold be polycystic?
Any chance I can persuade these doctors
into performing a hysterectomy if I am polycistic?

Most people think that your period comes every month like clockwork-- not true. the average cycle is about every 28 days and since you started on the first it's not that suprising that you're having it again today.

your periods are not too close, it's about on target. i'd wait at least another month before getting too worried.

i DO NOT think you have pcos. i have it and if you did there are more symptoms: weight gain, facial hair growth, and abnormal periods for about 4 months and in most cases no periods at times.

if you do have cysts there are procedures that allow them to take the cysts w/o removing the ovaries. if you are looking for a hysterectomy though, depending on the severity some doc.s probably would consider it.

My wife had something similar though I cant recall the abbreviations. Turned out she went total menopausal and was done by age 40. Rarely has hot flashes and doesnt seem too troubled at all by this change. The Dr. didnt think it was " false" menopause because she was pretty young at the time but ended up being the real deal.

Sweetie... have the doc check your hormone levels if he isn't already... sounds more like peri menapause to me than PCOS....

Normally with PCOS.. you have NO periods.. or they are very spaced out... the hair growth is not just ONE old lady hair.. it's more like a males young teen beard growth....

I would say that you are certainly perimenopausal; find a doctor that you feel comfortable talking with (NOT one who rushes you out of his/her office), and simply tell them what you want.
