we were recruited by the well known ADECCO RECRUITING COMPANY recruiting on behalf of MOYPARK FOODS LMTD, N. IRELAND.and we are both to start tomorrow. My question and problem is, that my partner received an abrubt text 5 HRS after being told to be at the job for 7.30 am tomorrow, telling her that she had no work , (actuall words on the text were ; NO WORK TOMORROW . ADECCO). I have sat on 3 previous inductions for this company at 5 hrs at a time and was promised dayshift work each time only to be told at the end that there was no work available. Now the same thing seems to be happening to my partner. Another factor is , is that we are from a predominatly white denomination which is being bombarded by migrant workers, the inductions classes for MOYPARK FOODS BY ADECCO are 99% migrant workers that most cannot speak 1 word of english.I constantly hear about job descrimination against these migrant workers in N.IRELAND but i feel that my partner and myself and the original local

ADVICE? yes. Go To School, college rather,or a trade school. The problem you are facing is that the bottom just dropped out of the unskilled labor market in your area, do to immigration. The company, being money hungry greedy you know what's, wants to take full advantage of this shift, and will. I think you have the right idea to look for a group of numbers to help, but the real solution for you and your wife is to have one work while the other skills up, then change places, the other goes to school while the other works, only this way, through acquiring a skill that the employer NEEDS, can you guarantee you and your family good money. That's what I did. From parking cars, and competing against immigrants over here, to 75K a year, from a 2 year degree, with my pay doubling at my first job out of school and reaching where it's at now after 10 years. hope this helps,, C.

This is a problem in every country in the world. Migrants from poor countries are cheaper and they put up with more than locals. Sometimes the best solution is to become a migrant worker yourself. I am a US citizen working abroad for 22 years now and have no regrets. On the other hand I have heard that Ireland is a good place to get work these days. Consider improving your education to get skills and qualification that migrant workers don´t have, then the competition between you and them will come to an end.

If a job is offerred and then retracted they are in breach of contract. So they should pay compensation.
Immigration can often be a problem in some areas when it is not managed properly. I don't know if they are discriminating against you, but this can happen, unfortunately.
On the positive side, immigration often boosts an areas economy and in the long term you win.
What it really sounds like is they hire immigrants at lower wages than is legal.
If you think discrimination is an issue, then you have to take action. Write a letter to your local member of parliment and contact local newspapers.
These companies can be exposed and their illegal practices halted for yours and benefits of immigrants.
If not you, then who, if not now, then when?

One needs to agree that it's cheaper to hire migrants versus locals. Looks like its happening globally.
