I am not a big fan of the hip hop/rap music. I would think that the reason is, that i can't realate to what they have to say. I don't think the use of the N-word means your tough. I grew up in the 80's with bands like Metallica, Slayer, Megadeath and the like. The reason that i listened to them, is they were talking a language that i could understand. Angst! I was a rebelious young person, ADD to the core.

I don't have a problem with people that listen to rap/hip hop music, but in just isn't in my favorites. In every type of music there is some music that anyone can relate to even if you don't like the majority of the music. For me the rapper Nelly is one of the few i listen to. I would have to say that his country song did it.

I was a hip hop DJ for 5 years in a club. So i have had plenty of experience with the music. I listened to it, i learned it, i even learned how to dance to most of it. I just never was able to feel the way the people in the songs did. Maybe i didn't try to, maybe it wasn't ment for me.

P.S. I am from a small town in Ohio, its a farming area. Just so you have some background.

I wouldn't say that I hate it, but I would say that I much prefer blues-rock and other style of music. As to why, personal preference. Rap music tends to do things in groups of four measures with the melody being in the bass line. The best rap groups are the ones that mix it up with some great singing, and "breaking the rules" a bit. I respect the ones that can sing a lot more than the ones who can't, probably because I am a musician myself, and rap to me is "incomplete" because there is no vocal melody (usually). Again, that is personal preference. I also think that rap music tends to have an aggressive overtone that I do not like. Blues-rock can be aggressive too, but this is more like being shouted at, and I can't see why anybody would like being yelled at.

I do not like Rap/ hip hop, because I do not consider it music. In my opinion it is talking to the beat of a drum. I have heard no proof of any musical talent needed to succeed in this genre only a gimmick and the ability to speak quickly and the ability to play a basic drum beat that never changes.
Personally I find it dull and annoying. However that is only My personal opinion.

I don't hate the art form i hate some of the rappers, they are bring rap to an all time low .
Nobody wants to take responsibility for the garbage that they are spewing and calling it rap .
Kids are believing they can pick up a gun and blow people away without consequences because they heard a idiot rapper brag about killing someone .
Teens are getting life sentences for the crimes they commited after being influenced to behave and adopt a life of hardcore crime .
After Fiddy Cent sells his million he does not give a damn about the Kid in Durham N.C. who pick up a gun and shoot into a crowd hitting an inocent person because he is imitating art .
Rappers are going to start catching hell because the NAACP, Al Sharpton and the Federal government is going to make someone accountable .
Their sales will drop and the thugs will see the damage they have done to themselves .
