We are Indians. We will carry out everything behind the screen but not in open. In open we are cultured, we will not even look at women and women at men. We will not read or write any thing bad about anybody else. Our films do not depict violence, lewd and sexy scenes. We will not spit, urinate or defecate in the streets. We will not abuse or insult anybody. No prostitution or prostitutes are in India. We will not consume liquor. This is what we claim.
Unfortunately many of us are hypocrites. If somebody kisses somebody else , it is their personal matter why somebody else is provoked. Unfortunately they did it in open. This particular woman is a small time actress became famous accidentally and wants to become still more famous.
That is it.

Really surprising especially when more than semi-nude films are allowed to be shown in public! Perhaps, judiciary needs to 'activate' in such cases so that the Most Important Cases Affecting Human Lives (like in Nandigram, Singur) could be deferred for some more time, enabling the Govt. to hush up cases & reports and further pressurise poor people to surrender to the Govt. sponsored hooligans !
The higher courts, in many past cases, had taken exception to some such apparently imprudent decisions of lower courts. Let us hope that the Judiciary would do the best under such circumstances.

"Do what the romans do" this is a well known adage which simply means that one should abide by the rules and culture of the place where they happen to be. In a country such as india where display of intimate gestures or displays of affection is not openly accepted, richard gere should have honored the tradition. It is such a shame that sometimes we do not give respect to cultural practices and customs of other races.

Like little drops make ocean. Richard Gere kissing Shila Shetty on Indian soil is nothing but against our culture and tradition. This would make impact on the youth already they are astray due to westernisation. Judiciary has done right thing in issuing a warrant against Richard Gere, which would act as deterrent to foreigners doing acts justified in their country but not in our motherland.

Judiciary is bounded to society, so to its culture and traditation. The person like shilpa shetty and Richard Gere who is fooling people and media at the same time should be punished. What they are doing is not an AID awarness programme but showing the way to increse the publicity of their own ,which is aganist our culture. So judicary should be welcomed and both should be punished.

Its absurd what has happened ,like great protest against Gere and Shilpa. Atleast we can show protest in a descent way, but it was total insult to a Guest. India is now adopting all the western styles...so why dont they consider it as a part of socialising...? If so, they shoould bannn all such practises in cinema and all!

Yes, it is making a mockery of itself. It seems they don't have serious issues to handle. By the way, the victim is defending Gere then why court has issued the warrant.

From the country that brought you the Kama Sutra, an arrest warrant for a public kiss??? I think you are right on the money - India has REAL problems to deal with, not this trivial nonsense. I think India needs to join the 21st Century now too - being arrested for a kiss in public is a JOKE - I will not visit India now until this policy has changed.

For My previous answerer - Kama sutra is only an advice to be followed within four walls and between two authorized intimate souls. Not for filthy souls.
Kissing is agreeable ok. But how far? Do you think it was a simple kiss. Explicitly showing the lust.

No! you are not correct! it is not Judiciary but it is "Culture" & Law of land which is making issue. Judicary has to act as directed by the Law of land which re-soursed by "customs & traditions" also of which "Culture" is a subject.
Unfortunately we are blinding ourself more of our culture and adicting to other cultures without learning merit and demerit of diverting from existjng ours' one and adopting the distanced one.
May I request you to go through the His highness Indian President recent address lecture in EU Parliament to learn a bit of culture.
And please note that bringing this issue for justice we are not making mockery but putting forward our awarenes of the belongingness to our culture.
