Well, lets do these one at a time.

Box-Strike-Matches:
They are mainly made up of sulfur and other little chemicals, and there are mini particles of semi- inducing spark rocks. That way, if you strike it on the box, which is actually another semi-inducing spar rock, just flattened, a spack heats up and lights he sulfur+tiny chemicals. These need two of the same rock surfaces to ignite.

Anywhere-Strike-Matches:
These are matches will a special type of mix of elemets that heat up immensly fast when friction is applied. You strike it on something, thereby creating tremendous amounts of frictrion, and heat and finally light up the sulfur and the match.
