XP aint got anything to do with your bios password. Its stored in the bios and can be changed there as long as you have your password! As some are saying, you might reset the bios by reading the mobo manual but, there are some pcs this cant be done too because the password is stored on a separate chip and only knowing the password will allow you to change its. IBM thinkpads for instance can not be changed short of buying the password chip and having a professional install it at the tune of about 250 bucks!

Short answer: You can't. The BIOS Password has to be given to the computer before the operating system is accessible.

There are two possibilities, and what you need to find is the manual for your Bios to do this.

First being, to unplug the computer, open it up, then jumper or short the bios password restriction so the computer can be started without the password. Second being, to remove the battery so that all CMOS settings (including the bios password) are lost. You need to check the manual for your machine's motherboard to know which you need to do.

Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. The only way to reset your windows password 100% safe is to use a software called Reset Password Pro.

The software allows you to create a boot-disk, that can be made on a CD/DVD or USB stick. The boot-disk can then be inserted into any locked machine, and it's a simple case of pressing reset. Here is their official site: http://www.resetwindowspass.com

At this factor purely reformat your comp and deploy Win ninety 8. All would be nicely.
