The Holy Spirit is not a being but rather God's active force/his power. Spirit comes from the Greek word pneu′ma (spirit) which comes from pne′o, meaning “breathe or blow,” and the Hebrew ru′ach (spirit) is believed to come from a root having the same meaning.
