For a large portion of my nineteen years, I've been constantly told that I exist only "in my head." Such comments never bothered me before; I was perfectly content in my passion (narrative writing/dissertation) and chosen hobbies (reading, researching, experimenting in the natural sciences, etc.). Now, however, that criticism is starting to work its way beyond my erected defenses because slowly I'm realizing that there is some merit to the scrutiny.

Truthfully, the only physical activity that I engage in is Chinese Wushu and even then it's a component to a more abstract interest (energy manipulation for use with ceremonial magick). But I'm willing to expand that single-item list. I want to involve myself in more hobbies that force me to use my flesh and musculature, but I don't want those hobbies to be run of the mill.

Football...basketball...baseball...sports in general--they hold no interest with me. I need alternative hobbies that I can pursue. That's why I've come you all.

I'm considering archery, but I'm still well open to suggestions.

I'll suggest "letterboxing". It'll get you out and about. I've listed a letterboxing FAQ website. It's canted for North American sportsters. A websearch should produce additional information for your own area if that's not it.

I've engaged several unconventional hobbies (mainly technology related) during my lifetime. Most of these, though, were also a bit too sedentary. Lately I've been working on electric cars. This is a very active hobby.
*
A couple years ago I spotted an electric car for sale on eBay. On a whim, I bought it - it only cost me $2000. It took another couple thousand to fix up the rust and replace the batteries (it's quite old, from 1981.)
*
But now I drive it to and from work every day. It gets about 4 miles to the kilowatt-hour, and there is a special off-peak electric rate available here for charging (overnight) of only 3 cents per KWH. So that's less than ONE PENNY per mile!
*
I made a webpage - a picture of my car is at the top. Here's some info on how to find inexpensive electric cars, or make one yourself:

This is a fun hobby - I drive my EV in local parades, I educate people about EVs, and I have fun working on, and modifying my electric car. And I drive right past gas stations!

yes archery, but do it the japanese way, you will learn to draw your bow before you are allowed to touch it, join a dojo and get into it, it will help your concentration for magick as well. Blessed Be.

Try Yoga. You seem to be very in touch with your inner being. This may be great for you, whether you are manly enough to admit it or not.

Why don't you look into trying fencing? It's physically demanding and NO ONE thinks of fencing when they hear the word "sport"

How about we take a .22 rifle and go to the shooting range?

I shoot and reload, it takes intellect and research. I shoot pistols for 100 meters, that's about a city block!
