Just kidding. Depends where you're from. In Australia, there will be a shortage of biomedical scientists in about 10 years or so, due to an ageing workforce, and not enough students coming through the Universities. I believe the same is true in the UK. So job prospects should be good, particularly in the microbiological fields and genetic research areas, although the latter is becoming overheated with research companies who are not getting any results, so the bubble may burst in that industry in a few years.

I'm manager of an applications R&D group for protein purification at a major biotech firm (I've got a Ph.D. though--don't know if that's what you meant).
