They sale it on the Internet, do a Yahoo search (how scammers get my email address) you can get into YouTub look for the same thing in fact I'm going to do that right now, did you see dateline tonight? it was all about your question and I'm sure it will show up on YouTube very soon. and most definitely in Yahoo search, very good Question the people that do get scammed are often to embarrassed to report this type of crime, this type of scam prays on the poor and lonely and they know this, not only should you know what your kids are doing on the computer so should adults around you that could fall into this category.

Chain letters. If you have ever been put on the mailing list of a chain letter, even the cutesy ones with funny jokes or interesting commentaries, chances are your email was listed by money scammers. They send out these chain mails and do one of two things, they either attached a tracer to see all the emails it eventually reaches, or through the wonders of the internet, the chain letter eventually reaches them again and they have hundreds of emails to choose from.

There are actually software programs that spam people by sending out automated mails to addresses. They don't have to do any work or research - the software does it for them. They can send out millions of these all over the world. No one really gives them your e-mail address.

probably from any site you are suscribed to. yahoo, hotmail, gmail and all of them are public addresses so it´s most likely that someone can get a hold of the domain names and start mailing those addresses.
