The Japanese had every advantage. There was no logical reason why the U.S. should have won. If you study the battle, there were just a very few small actions--a Japanese reconnaisance plane's radio malfunction, a chance sighting by a U.S. dive bomber squadron while flying far off-course, catapult problems on the Japanese carrier Hiryu--that made the difference.

The battle occured within six months of the turning points at Stalingrad and El Alamein. It's hard to think of God siding with Stalin over Hitler, but it was undeniably that very short period of time that turned the tide of the war for the Allies.

Did it happen for a reason?

All the incidents you mentioned can be explained. Where did the supernatural influence come into play? If there was a God, why didn't he stop the war in the first place with his well-timed 'incidents?' Where was he when 6 million of his Chosen people were incinerated or 80-100,000 vaporised by nuclear detonations?

NO, even if God existed he/she wouldn't take sides. Doesn't religion teach that God created all humans??

The are numerous examples of wars in which one side had all the advantages and yet lost. Look at the battle of Agincourt. The British were outnumbered nearly 10 fold. So does this mean that God prefers the British to the French? When baseball teams play each other does that mean that God is siding with, say, the Cardinals? We thought we were a secure nation before 9/11 but look what happened; I guess God prefers Muslim extremists?

Those "small actions" that you named are the reason why the japanese lost, especially the sighting by the US dive bomber squadron.

No, somebody who probably does not exist can not intervene.
